We had a meetup with Tokyo, Rinji and Mika at the Papago dog park today. It’s a nice start of 2012: spending time outdoors, hanging out with the Shibas and friends and kicking start this interesting project — things I’d like to continue doing for the rest of my life. It’s a challenge but that’s really the fun part, right?

With the superior organizing abilities of my mother-in-law’s, we pulled off a wedding in 2 months, which is less than 1/10 of the time that Kyle and I were engaged. To display some of my ‘culture’, we came up with this idea: roses in a Chinese take-out box. (More preciously, it’s the Chinese culture that most Americans are familiar with.) To keep the flowers fresh and prevent the box from tilting, we had foam and clear marbles at the bottom of the boxes. It was a fun project to do with my wedding party.

The Arizona climate dehydrated the roses perfectly. I think the new look gives them more character.

Kai and I brought these 2 Mickey vinyl figures back from our Disneyland trip back in 2009. They’ve been sitting on our office desks since then. Mike (on the right) never blinks at me at work. He moved several offices with me and made me more interesting to coworker’s kids. Sometimes his smile looks sweet, sometimes snarky. He’ll travel more strange lands with me in the future. He looks a bit excited.

A couple of ladies and I thought it’s a good idea to replace our office chairs with yoga balls, at least for a period of time every day. It’s actually easier to get used to than you’d think. Given the simplicity of putting my butt on it, I still spend more time looking at it than using it.

Hopefully it doesn’t become a metaphor of my life - not making improvement for no good reasons. Now that I took a picture of it, it feels official: it’s high time that I threw it away.

As any hard-partying Shiba knows, the day after is always filled with questions, concerns and regrets.

I DO NOT RECALL DOING THAT! HOW DARE YOU LODGE THOSE ACCUSATIONS AT ME?

Luckily, when it comes to the day after the SUPER GINORMOUS 2011 INTERNATIONAL SECRET SHIBA GIFT EXCHANGE GRAND PRESENT OPENING EXTRAVAGANZA, no such problems exist.

Last night is so hazy … is there something on my head?

Tons of pics have already been posted to Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook, and every spoiled shiba looks more than pleased with their pawesome gifties, treats and fun-time toys.

In the spirit of Type A organization, I’d love for everyone to email me their best Secret Shiba gift picture(s) and I’ll put together an epic Gift Reveal to End the Ages post so that everyone can see just how splendiferous the Twibas of the Interwebs really are!

Once again, a huge arigatou gozaimasu to all of this year’s amazing, enthusiastic and beyond generous participants and donors. We certainly have our work cut out for us in 2012! I’m not sure we’ll be able to beat this year!

See that Pink Princess Nylabone? It’s different than mine. It’s BACON flavored! Hear that? BACON! Mine have always been mint…but I don’t know if I can ever go back.

She also picked out a sock monkey toy that I’ve taken to carrying around the room with me. There will definitely be more of me and him later. Also, look at the MONSTER pile of treats! They are peanut butter and mint - very, very tasty.

And Nami’s parents probably didn’t even know this, but they sent a gift to the kitties, too. They loved the tissue paper! Simple kitties…they can have that and I’ll take the peanut butter and mint treats, sock monkey, and BACON Nylabone. Sounds fair.

My present came a week before Shibamas, but they made me wait to open it! Sad Shiba… As you can see in the picture, Mom and Dad thought they would be funny when I asked them to put my gift under the tree. Huff. Humans.

Finally I got Dad to open the box with an exacto knife (cause you know I don’t want to risk my pedicure). Moochie wanted to help, but I body blocked him out of the way. Look in the box!

$240 Worth Of Pudding

Well, not quite, but $150 worth of shiba love and generosity went to NYC Shiba Rescue today, courtesy of the one and only Prince Zuko and his fantastic mom!

I cook, and then I chill. Awwww yeeaaaah.

Although not all 50 pups received their Secret Shiba Boxes O’ Joy by December 20, Zuko’s mom dug down into the very depths of her heart and decided that helping out the shibas in need was more important than arbitrary deadlines.

So everyone, get out there and send a big huge SHIBA THANK YOU to Prince Zuko and his pack for their pawesome generosity! You all rock!

The Devil Is In The Details

Tomorrow marks the day that will forever be known far and wide as THE 2011 INTERNATIONAL SECRET SHIBA GIFTIES DELIVERY DEADLINE. Not a very catchy name, admittedly so, but important nonetheless!

As you know, for every package that is received by Tuesday, December 20, 2011, Prince Zuko’s gorgeous, talented, funny, and sparkling mother will donate $3 to the New York City Shiba Rescue. Potentially, that could be a $150 donation! *High Paw*

Yeah, slip me some skin, human!

Therefore, you all have a very important job to do tomorrow night. If, by the end of mail/package delivery on Tuesday, December 20, you have NOT received your Secret Shiba goodies, please email me to let me know. If I don’t hear from you, I will assume that all the eagles have landed (that’s super secret military code, FYI).

Taro’s eagle has landed, dead at his feet.

The 2011 International Secret Shiba has reached a fever pitch, and we can’t wait to see all the spectacular treats, toys, and other various fabulousness that comes the way of our lovely array of shiba stars. Big thanks to all the participants, donors, assistants and enthusiastic supporters. I still can’t believe we reached 50 pups!

Well, Shibas of the Interwebs, after months of planning, prepping, shopping and shipping, we’re down the last week before all Secret Shiba gifties are due to their lucky recipients!

In the immortal words of Europe, we have reached … The Final Countdown.

We’re leaving together, but still it’s farewell. And maybe we’ll come back, to earth, who can tell?

Packages are due to your very special Secret Shiba no later than December 20, 2011. And remember, for every Secret Shiba that meets this deadline, Prince Zuko’s awesome humom will donate $3, and our super amazing Friend to the Shibas, Mary, will donate $5, to the NYC Shiba Rescue. Whoo hoo!

Shibas of the Interwebs! The Second Annual International Secret Shiba is well under way, and several good humans have already started dutifully shopping, packing and shipping! Several bad humans have continued to sit on their lazy butts (you know who you are … ) so engage full force Shiba Mind Control, at once!

How many of you used pawesome Shiba stamps to send you packages? I’m betting none.

Remember: You must have your goodies to your super duper Secret Shiba no later than December 20, 2011. And, if you have any problems, please email me immediately!
